Open Hack Saturday!

Code for Tampa Bay is a Code for America Brigade working to use technology to make government services more user friendly and government information more accessible.

Our meetings are open to anyone interested in helping with ongoing projects or starting their own. Computer tech skills are helpful but not required since some projects could benefit from input from designers, artists, subject matter experts – anyone willing to pitch in really.

We’ve historically met on the first Monday of each month but are now beginning to meet on a Saturday as well to make it easier for people with real jobs and other commitments to attend. I picked 3 pm thinking we could go out to dinner after, or just hang out downtown.

We also collaborate with the Tampa Bay Data Science Group on socially beneficial data science projects. Those meetings typically happen on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, holidays and hurricanes permitting.

Parking is free north of Kennedy on Saturday! If you really want to get confused, check out this document of hours of operation for city parking meters. If only there was a simple map we could look at instead. Hey, project idea!

Projects that originated during Hack Zika 2017, and Brigade website-refinement efforts continue.

Local government and community groups invited to bring their projects and requests for assistance to meetings! Or share project ideas/Needs with an email to [masked]

Code for Tampa Bay Monthly Meetup

Note the venue change. We’ll meet this month at Tampa Bay Wave so we can stay as long as we like and even bring beer if we want! Since free parking opens up at 6pm, I’ve made the official start time 6:30. I usually try to park exactly at 6 before spaces get gobbled up so feel free to show up early.

Hackathon and website efforts continue.
